Day of Silence

Hi WBCers!

So what are your thoughts about the National Day of Silence? First of all, for more information about it, go to www.dayofsilence.org. You've already heard my thoughts. I think that the church can respond by Ignoring It, Confronting It, Avoid It, and Engaging It. My own thought is that we should engage it with prayer, care, share. People need to see the church as THE place to go for healing and love...the same way people saw Jesus. If we see the world as evil, then we avoid it; if we see the world as lost, then we engage it. It seems to me that grace is the door that allows us to bring another into the room of truth. That's my opinion. Let's have a respectful, "salty" conversation on this!

  While we need to be people of both truth and grace I find that truth is easy to dispense. We need only to proclaim it with word or perhaps put a sign on the front lawn. Anyone can hear it or read it but will they receive it in such a way that it is life changing. Without love truth is a clanging gong - an loud noise causing one to cover their ears. Combined with love truth can be transforming as we see our need for grace and seek the one who provides all. Without love there is nothing attractive about truth. Sin is ugly and I know I don't like to see it in myself. (thus do I tend to point it out in others?) Thankfully God is gracious and loving and reveals my sin to me gently so that I may be transformed. And here I supposedly have a heart that is willing to be changed. Imagine a world that doesn't know God! They certainly cannot recognize any need to be transformed by God's truth without first seeing His love. We, the church, are to be dispensers of grace and love. Love is hard and takes work. It requires time and relationship, commitment, involvement, exposure, transparency. It requires sacrifice - even unto death on a cross! I hope that I can be a person who seeks the lost -all of the lost, weather they are struggling with same sex lust, opposite sex lust, gossiping, gluttony, etc. -we know the sins only because He has or is revealing them to us. Let me be a person who reveals God's hope, healing ,grace, compassion, strength and love to others so that they may choose to follow Him and become people who allow God's truth to begin to transform their lives. I know my life isn't fully transformed yet is yours?

  Also - I am really liking the walk across the room series! I am moved to tears daily as I begin to imagine peoples lives touched by God. I only hope that I can be sensitive to the HS and do only my part. Another reason to remain constantly in prayer. Thanks for choosing the material for us. I think it's perfect.

  Tolerance says, “You must agree with me.” Love responds, “I must do something harder; I will tell you the truth, because the truth will set you free.”
